  • Preacher's Piece

    Kevin Cernak|Apr 12, 2023

I recently watched the Jesus Revolution movie in the theater. It’s a good movie about the Jesus movement and is set in the late 60’s at the height of the Hippy era. It’s a story about a young man in search of meaning in life who first reached out to drugs, and then to Jesus. It’s a very worthwhile movie to see if you get the chance. I don’t know how they did it, but “they” assembled a whole arsenal of cars consistent with that period of time. I was just a young lad then - about 8 years old, but...

  • Point To Ponder

    Dan Stevens|Apr 12, 2023

When was the last time you flew on an airplane? Not a little Cessna or crop duster, I’m talking about a commercial airline. The reason I ask is because my wife and I recently purchased our tickets for an upcoming trip, and it made me remember all kinds of things that are wrong with flying. Last summer, if you remember, my family took a cruise to Alaska. And while onboard the ship, let us say that the casino liked me … a lot! So much so, that they offered us a free cruise. Now, of the ava...

  • Lighter Side

    Apr 12, 2023

If April showers bring May flowers, what do April blizzards bring? Can February March? No, but April May. I made sure to propose to my girlfriend on April first. That way, if she said “No” I could just say “April fools!” I garden in the nude. It’s a lot cheaper than a scarecrow. April Showers Bring Mayflowers? False, various environmental factors determine plant growth. I’m thinking about doing a little work on my lawn but I can’t decide … concrete or gravel? If April showers bring May flowers, May flowers bring a strong sense of accomplishment...

While the White House and Congress were not on the line, there were still some very important elections held last week. Results of the contested races from our coverage area are listed below. If it was a simple ‘vote for one’ situation, there is no number in parenthesis next to the office the candidates were running for. However, in many cases the top two, three or four candidates won – in which case, the number in parenthesis next to the office is how many of the people listed below it (in vote recipient order) were elected. In the case of the...
