Pandemic Hitting School Enrollments

While every school district in the region has seen a decline in enrollment as parents choose to home school their younger children, Eastland has seen a dramatic increase with so many families moving out into the region - especially Lake Carroll.

Schools in our region have been hit with a nearly impossible task – to educate kids now in both a virtual and one-to-one environment at the same time, all while following strict guidelines concerning cleanliness and social distancing in order to keep those students (and themselves) safe.

At the same time, the Districts themselves have been placed into a tough position as State funding has taken a major hit, and while property taxes are the primary source of local funding for schools, all but a select few still rely on state funding for things such as transportation and other "categorical...
