    Capital News Network|Mar 25, 2020

As store shelves across Illinois empty of key products during the COVID-19 pandemic, public and private-sector leaders are urging shoppers to put less stress on the supply chain by not hoarding items. Since the pandemic intensified in Illinois last week, customers have been panic-buying and hoarding products like toilet paper, tissues, hand sanitizer, bread and pasta. Signs posted on cleaned-out shelves ask customers to limit their purchases of such high-demand items to a few or even one. But... Full story

Hi Dan, I am contacting you in regards of what are school is doing over this "break". Our teacher suggested that we give you a brief overview of what the next two weeks of our lives look like. • This Too Shall Pass

    Dan Stevens|Mar 25, 2020

There’s no way to sugarcoat it – the “New Normal” has people sitting at home alone, unable to gather in any form of social setting, store supplies being hoarded by those seeing a doomsday scenario, and paychecks either already cut, or being seen as in jeopardy as the government decides when to crack down more on our movement. Whether or not we have a single case of the virus in our region is not the point – we have been hit, and hit hard. The Illinois Press Association has gotten the Governor...

    Dan Stevens|Mar 25, 2020

As if the Stockton Blackhawks needed something else to deal with over the summer, now they will also be needing to find a new football coach. Head coach Jesse Snyder resigned his position last week in order to accept a new job back at Princeton, where he came from when he took the Stockton position. "I would like to express my immense gratitude to the Stockton School District for entrusting me to lead the football program these last three years. It has been an honor and a privilege to teach and...

  • Extreme Weather Webinar

    Mar 25, 2020

For municipal leaders and community organizers across the state, 2019 flooding presented a host of challenges that tested the capabilities of their emergency response systems and the plans that support them. According to the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, this was the fifth consecutive year that the U.S. experienced ten or more extreme weather events where the economic impact of each exceeded 1 billion dollars. With a disproportionate number of those events impacting the Midwest region, it seems clear that time spent...

  • Point To Ponder

    Dan Stevens|Mar 25, 2020

I have now seen my wife more in the last week than I did in the last three months. (That’s not necessarily a good thing, I tend to fray nerves.) As the Coronavirus Quarantine drags on, everyone tries to find something to pass the time. Sure, many of us are still working, but there is still a lot more time spent sitting in our family room than we’ve ever had before. Church services are canceled, theaters are closed, and it might be some time before we see “sports” again. So what do we do with al...

  • Preacher's Piece

    Kevin Cernak|Mar 25, 2020

Today I’m going to continue on the theme of overcoming the Fear Factor. I think there is more fear and uncertainty out there now than there was even last week. People are genuinely scared. We faced a brand new dilemma this week when the authorities limited us to group meetings of ten people or less. So instead of regular church, we are temporarily moving to online services, where we will stream live at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. I have recommended that our church family and friends gather in...
