Their amazing season was almost certainly coming to an end as both of their senior guards – Charlie Wiegel and Jacob Duerr had fouled out of the Regional Championship game against Sterling Newman with 3:25 to play.

Nolan Britt of Sterling Newman made one of the foul shots to increase the lead to five at 49-44, and the Hornets were going to have to try and rally with both of their floor generals on the bench.
