By now everyone has probably heard about the home explosion on Business 20 near Harlem Center Road Tuesday night of last week.

The home, owned by Al and Bonnie Bawinkel, exploded around 7:00 pm while the couple was still inside. The couple survived the initial blast, and were helped out of the resulting fire by a neighbor and passerby before emergency responders arrived.

They are both currently listed in critical condition at the burn unit at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, and are expected to face a long recovery period.
