Suzie Miner, born August 31, 1942, and her sister Janie Stadel, born August 18, 1944, share a rather "unique" tradition.

Suzie and Janie grew up in the Scales Mound area, both graduating from Scales Mound High School. Suzie married and has lived in the Quad Cities for nearly 60 years. Janie married and lives on the Stadel family homestead near Schapville.

Back in 1972, Janie bought a birthday card for Suzie's birthday – and maybe because it said "This is the age of Ecology" or maybe just as a joke, Suzie sent the exact same card back to Janie on her birthday in 1973.
