When Aquin, and Ava Lively above, began hitting cross court instead of down the line to avoid the Pearl City block, it paid off with big dividends.

It wasn't easy, but the Aquin Bulldogs made it through every opponent in the NUIC North unscathed with their hard fought 18-25, 25-15, 25-19 victory Tuesday night over Pearl City at home.

Early on, it was the Wolves who looked like the top ranked team in the area as Savanah Brandt was hammering away at the net, and also frustrating Aquin with an assortment of dink serves they couldn't handle as Pearl City rallied from an early 14-10 deficit to take a late lead, then extended it and pulled away for the 25-18 victory that left Aquin – and their fans – in a state of shock.
