It was an amazing season in Girl's Basketball this year, and nobody is more excited to congratulate the Eastland Cougars on reaching the pinnacle that for so long seemed unreachable – State Champions!

Make no mistake; what the Cougars did was exceptional. Yes, I know Aquin won it twice – but they had a future WNBA player and Division I scholarship athlete to lean on in Sophie Brunner – the likes of which we may never see again in the next decade.

Eastland was truly a team in every sense of the word. Their point guard is going to DePaul next season and has played her last basketball....
