Robert “Bob” Charles Kappes, 92

Robert “Bob” Charles Kappes, age 92, of Stockton, IL passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at FHN Hospital in Freeport surrounded by his family. He was born in Pleasant Valley on September 28, 1931 to the late Lawrence and Opal (Schmidt) Kappes. Bob married Vernetta Ault on March 10, 1956 in Orangeville. Vernetta passed away August 7, 2009.

Bob was a 1949 graduate of Stockton High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean War. He had worked for Hess Construction after the service. Bob and his brother Ron then purchased Kappes Standard Service Station and ran that for 45 years. Bob had also drove school bus for the Stockton School District for 48 years. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served on church council for many years and the Stockton VFW and Lions Club, where he helped with the 4th of July chicken dinners. He was also a member of the Freeport Eagles Club. Bob loved golfing, woodworking and playing cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Michele (Wyatt) Chenong of German Valley; his sons, Mike Kappes of Stockton and Mitch Kappes of Stockton; his grandchildren, Darren (Denise) Chenong, Brett (Rebecca) Chenong and Josh Kappes; his great grandchildren, Jackson and Evelyn Rose Chenong; his sisters, Kaye Clark of Pecatonica and Nancy Rice of Stockton; his sister-in-law, Kay Kappes; his brother-in-law, Jim (Bruita) Ault; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his two brothers, Dick and Ron; his sister, Mary; and his brother-in-laws, Dale and Norm.

A funeral service was held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton. Apple Canyon Lake

Timothy Patrick Reese, 74

Timothy Patrick Reese, age 74, of Apple Canyon Lake passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 at UW Madison. He was born in Chicago on November 9, 1949 to the late Harry and Eileen (Burke) Reese. Timothy married Patricia Buck on April 24, 1982.

He was a 1967 graduate of Gordon Tech High School and went on to a trade school to become an electrician and a member of the local 134. He had worked as an electrician for several years before becoming an engineer. Timothy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton. He was also a life member of the Illinois Outdoor Men’s Association and a member of the Apple Canyon Lake Men’s Golf League. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, trips to the casino, playing cards especially pinnacle and poker and attending water aerobics in Freeport where he will be remembered as “Happy Monday”. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Timothy is survived by his wife, Patricia Reese; his sons, Terrence (Nicole) and Sean (Kelsey); his grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily; and his sister, Maryellyn (John) Krantz. He was preceded in death by his parents and two aunts.
