St. John’s Lutheran – Pearl City

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pearl City, will celebrate the twelfth Sunday after Pentecost on August 20th. Seminarian Steven KinCannon will be presiding over worship.

On Tuesday, August 15th, there will be a Ladies Night Out and Annual Meeting in Luther Hall at 6 PM. Contact the office if you are interested in attending. There will be a program with Pennie Miller for the PC Library and Tricia Vandenburgh, author of “Mandy & Leo”. There is a dinner and a cost of $10.

The August Grace meal will be on Sunday, August 20th and will include spaghetti, green beans, salad, bread and dessert. Reservations for curbside pick-up are due by August 17th. Call the office to reserve yours!

The VBS event on Sunday, September 17th has been cancelled but there will be a special Children's Sermon and Sunday School on September 17th that will include the Bible story and craft. The 6th-8thgrade Confirmation group will meet after worship on September 17th as well.

There will be cards and dominoes in Luther Hall at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 24th.

Salem United Church of Christ

We welcome you to join us for our service led by Pastor Christopher Ham at Salem United Church of Christ, 8491 West Salem Road, Lena, Illinois, this Sunday, August 20th, 2023 at 10 a.m. The Adult Sunday School will be hosted prior to service, starting at 9 a.m. on the lower level of the church. Children’s Sunday School is held during church service, at 10 a.m.

The Wednesday Breakfast Bunch will be meeting Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023 at 8 a.m. at The Big Apple, 1427 West Galena Avenue, Freeport, Illinois. Everyone is welcome to join!

The Annual Shrimp Boil is going to be hosted on Sunday, August 27th. All are welcome to join for this fun day of worship with good food and good company. Worship will be at 10 a.m. with the shrimp boil immediately following.

Would you like to get more involved & enjoy the company of the congregation? Here are the monthly church gatherings:

Men’s Night - 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. During this time the men spend time visiting, playing games, and getting to know each other better!

Bible Study - 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.

Crafternoon - 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. During this time there are snacks, a brief devotional thought, and plenty of time to work on crafts individually or together.
