Apple River

Susan Burke, 73

Susan Burke, 73, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, formerly of the rural Apple River, Wisconsin area, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Dove Wissota Healthcare after a courageous battle with ALS. Susan was born on June 23, 1950 in Freeport, Illinois to Delmar and June (Williams) Burke. She married Don Rowley in 1967, and together they had two children; Teresa and Don.

Susan was employed at Dura Automotive in Stockton, Illinois for over 30 years. In her spare time, Susan enjoyed gardening. She would plant over 100 tomato plants, which she would start from seed in her greenhouse. Every year she would can the produce from her garden. She was an excellent cook, and pie baker.

Susan is survived by her children, Teresa (Eric) Radke of Monroe, Wisconsin and Don (Susan) Rowley of Kenosha, Wisconsin, two grandchildren; Kyle Radke and Gage Baumgartner, two brothers Jim (Diane) Burke, and Richard (Irene) Burke.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her special friend Mike Grenoble.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, Illinois. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, Illinois. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, Illinois. Sean Huguenin will officiate the services.

Cedarville

Robert “Robie” D. Robieson, 78

Robert “Robie” D. Robieson, 78, of Cedarville, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Illinois, surrounded by his family. Robie was born on December 16, 1944 to Lewis and Ida (Grabow) Robieson in Freeport, Illinois. He graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1963. He was a Vietnam Veteran proudly serving the country in the United States Army.

Robie was first employed by the vault company in Freeport before starting his career in construction. He developed his construction trade while working for Cheeseman Construction, and later joined Cord Construction out of Rockford until his retirement. He was a fifty-year member of both McConnell and Lena Legions. He was also a member of the Freeport VFW, Eagles Club, and Moose Lodge. Robie was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, hunting, and was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and Whitetails. Robie loved to share what he caught while hunting at his annual wild game cookouts. He looked forward to gathering with family and friends and was the first one at the table to enjoy a good game of euchre. Robie also served on the Cedarville Volunteer Fire department for many years. His giving heart will be greatly missed by the many charities that he supported.

Robie is survived by his brothers and sisters; Marian Long, Dawayne (Carol) Robieson, Donald Robieson, LaVerne (Julie) Robieson, Nelson (Carol) Robieson, Rolland (Sheryl) Robieson, Carol Niemann, sister in-law; Norma Robieson and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lawrence and Willard Robieson; sister Evelyn Bouray; brothers-in-law;- Ken Long and Lester Niemann; sisters-in-law;- Georgene Robieson and Emogene Robieson.

A Funeral Service took place at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL with a visitation from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will take place at Lena Burial Park in Lena. A luncheon followed the services at the Cedarville Fire Station in Cedarville, IL In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory for the Cedarville Fire Department.
