Stabbing/Barricaded Suspect

On July 10, 2023 at approximately 3:40 am, the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a stabbing on Red Gates Rd, in rural Galena.

When Deputies arrived on scene, they located Zakkary L. Wasmund, 25 of Galena, outside of the residence who stated that his father, James M. Wasmund, 54 of Galena, was inside of the residence with his girlfriend, Jennifer L. Velzis, 42 of Galena, and that he had been stabbed.
