As students prepare for their summer break from school parents find themselves looking for activities to keep their kids busy. One activity to consider is a summer reading program.

When young people are not engaged in educational activities during the summer they often experience learning loss, effectively erasing gains made during the school year. The good news is summer reading programs keep kids growing. Studies show students who participate in summer reading programs have better reading skills and score higher on standardized tests than students who do not.
