History Of March Madness

The month of March brings hope that winter's end will soon be at hand. Snow will begin melting, giving way to green grass. South winds carrying warm gulf air will push temperatures upwards Sunshine will be with us longer each day. The bright sunny days of March offer hope that the seasons are about to change, and winter will soon be gone.

March is the third month of the year in both the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Here, in equinox occurs. In ancient times, New Years Day was celebrated on March first. This is the time when we begin to hear the phrase March Madness.
