The Apple River Fort State Historic Site received a very special donation from librarian Judy Tippett and the River Ridge CUSD #210: a rare set of books about the Black Hawk War by former Illinois State Historian Ellen M. Whitney. This four-volume set, published between 1970 to 1978, is a comprehensive history of the Black Hawk War in the words of those who fought it.
