Marcia Lynn Lobdell, 67

Marcia Lynn Lobdell, 67, of Lena, IL passed away at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home on Saturday, February 20, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Marcia was born on July 20, 1953 to Melvin and Lavonia (Bicker) Buchenau in Freeport, IL. She graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1971. She married her high school sweetheart, Mark Lobdell, on May 20, 1973. She farmed with her husband for over 20 years while they raised their two sons. She never stopped helping Mark on the farm, continuing to do bookwork even while working in Freeport. Marcia started working for Dr. Alberts in Freeport at Park Hills Optical as a receptionist. In 2008, the clinic changed names to the Monroe Clinic, Freeport Eye Care. Marcia retired in 2019 after 23 years of service. In 2011, Mark and Marcia built their dream house on the farm, which she loved spending time in her sunroom, and working on her landscaping.

Marcia always put her family first, and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything else. She would drop anything for anybody. Her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Nana” were the light of her life in recent years. Marcia was a member of several committees and groups at the Lena United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering her time there. She also enjoyed knitting and curling up with a good book in her sunroom.

Marcia is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mark, sons Brad (Keelee) Lobdell and Brian (Ann) Lobdell, and grandchildren Mikey, Grant, Ryder and Everlee Lobdell, her sister Pat Fuchs, brother Larry (Judy) Buchenau, aunts Verla Bicker and Violet Altenbern, sister-in-law Sally Buchenau, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ron Buchenau, and brother-in-law Ron Fuchs.

Private family services were held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Lena United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL. Pastor Keri Rainsberger officiated the services.

Paula Klontz, 47

Paula Klontz, 47, of Lena, IL, formerly of McConnell, IL, passed away at home on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Paula was born on July 31, 1973 to Roger and Lonnie (Rickard) Klontz in Freeport, IL. She was married to Stephen Simpson (Tamara Simpson) for ten years; together they had two children. Paula owned her own home cleaning business. All of her clients appreciated, loved, and formed relationships with her. She was a passionate artist, always remodeling her home and refinishing furniture. She had a great sense of humor, her smile could brighten any room she was in. Paula loved spending time with her family and her friends.

Paula is survived by her two children- Claudia (Matt Klein) Simpson of Lena, IL, Henry (Abby Horning) Simpson of Roscoe, IL, a granddaughter- Dalen Sue, parents-Roger and Lonnie Klontz of McConnell, IL, sisters- Susan (Henry) Saavedra, Sandra Klontz, Viola (Aleks) Petroski, two nieces- Tillie and Alexia, a nephew- William, her best friend Sara Engels, and Curt Lawfer.

She was preceded in death by her brother Dalen.

A celebration of Paula’s life will be held at Curt’s home 14668 E Blackhawk Rd Kent, IL 61044, on March 20th between the hours of 1-4pm.

Mt. Carroll

Stanley John Eberle, 84

Stanley John Eberle, age 84 of Mt. Carroll, IL passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at home. He was born August 3, 1936 at home in Pleasant Valley Township to the late John and Bessie (Teichler) Eberle. Stan married April Yeager on June 30, 1973.

Stan was a 1954 graduate of Stockton High School where he was commonly known as Mouse. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pearl City, Mt. Carroll American Legion, 40-8 Legion, Carroll County Grange, and was a Jo Daviess County Precinct Committeeman for 40 years. Stan proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958 and spent three of those years in Germany. He was a lifelong farmer and had worked at Thermos and retired from Quebecor in Mt. Morris. He was a custom combiner and hauled grain for Rick Meader. Stan enjoyed carpentry, especially making clocks. He loved his garden and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, April Eberle of Mt. Carroll; his daughters, Ila (Jim) Carlson of Stockton, Candy (James Knight) Wade of Clinton, IA, Dinah (Bobby) Shores of Freeport and Jolene (Bob) Stotler of Colona, IL; his son, Eric (Leah) Eberle of Mt.Carroll; his step-son, Verlin Yeager of Freeport; his sisters, Ellen Derrer of Milan, IL and Norma Engleking of Lena; his 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tammy; his grandson John; and his great granddaughter Lynette.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Pearl City at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation on Friday, March 5, 2021 also at the church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Massbach.
