Shannon

Barbara Ellen Woessner, 77

Barbara Ellen Woessner, age 77, of Shannon, IL passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL.

She was born February 18, 1943 in Freeport, IL to the late Vernon and Winifred (Phillips) Macomber. Barbara married Karl Woessner on November 28, 1964 at Lena Methodist Church. Karl passed away October 3, 1994.

Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Lena High School and went on to attend Rockford Memorial Hospital X-Ray Technician School. She worked as an x-ray technician for a couple years then worked alongside her husband on the farm until his death and continued to farm with her sons until retiring in 2003. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon and the United Methodist Women. She was also an organist for over 50 years. She was a member of Shannon Women’s club – Sweet Adelines, Good News singers, and served on several committees and offices. Barbara enjoyed flowers, plays, music and traveling. Some of her favorite memories were traveling to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Vatican City and Ireland.

She is survived by her sons, Brett (Kristine) Woessner of Shannon and Brad (Valerie) Woessner of Shannon; her grandchildren, Benjamin Woessner, Hannah Woessner and Theo Woessner; her brothers, Barton (Pam) Macomber and David (Karen) Macomber. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The funeral Service was held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon at 11:00 a.m. There was no visitation before the service. Interment will take place at Brethren Cemetery.

Stockton

Wayne “Buck” Simmons, 80

Wayne “Buck” Simmons passed away Sunday, February 07, 2021.

He was born August 5, 1941 to the late Carson and Ardath (Vanderheyden) Simmons. He was a 1959 graduate of Stockton High School.

Buck worked as a mechanic for Jim Baber and Kappes Standard. He married Pat Schiess on October 14, 1961 and they started farming in 1962. Farming was Buck’s passion and he and Pat worked side by side daily and were still actively farming. They milked for 35 years, earning several awards. In the past years, they continued to grain farm. In their free time they both enjoyed playing slots at local casinos or a trip to Vegas.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat; his children, Brad Simmons of Lena, IL, Wendy (Al) Nowviock of Kent, IL, and Brian (Vicky) Simmons of Walkerton, IN; his grandchildren, Amber Nowviock, Adam Nowviock, Benjamin (Ruth) Chacko and Joseph Chacko; and his great grandchildren, Maddalyn Nowviock, Ashton Nowviock and Amori Chacko. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Althof.

The funeral service was held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton.

Freeport

Lucille “Lucy” E. Lee, 88

Lucille “Lucy” E. (Seefeldt) Lee, age 88, of Freeport, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2021 with the family by her side.

She was born on December 26, 1932 to William and Hedwig (Drews) Mann. She married John “Jack” Seefeldt on December 8, 1949, he preceded her in death in 1982. She married Ben Lee on June 4, 1983. Lucy was a full-time mother raising her five children and a part time seamstress. She enjoyed fishing, baking especially pies and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known as “Grandma Lucy” to many. Lucy was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Freeport, IL. She was the past president of the Ladies Elks and Scottish Rites Women’s Club, past queen of the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club.

She is survived by her husband Ben Lee of Freeport, IL, children; Janice (Ron) Beckett of Roscoe, IL, Roger Seefeldt of Freeport, IL, Richard Seefeldt of Ridott, IL, Mary Seefeldt of Freeport and Jeff (Jodi) Seefeldt of Pearl City, IL, grandchildren; Laura (Mike) Vernam, Ian, Sadie, Maggie and Emmit Seefeldt-Swanson, one great grandchild; Jacob Hudler, and Ben’s family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Seefeldt, son Ray in infancy, 2 brothers; Ralph Mann and Donald Mann, and a granddaughter; Molly Seefeldt-Swanson.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 13, 2021 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. Visitation was from 9:00 till time of service on Saturday. Pastor Randy Nicholas officiated the services.

Burial will be in Rock Lily Cemetery in Winslow, IL. A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be sent to the family at http://www.leamonfh.com.

Kent

Manfred J. Domberger, Sr. 82

Manfred J. Domberger, Sr, 82, of Kent, IL, passed away on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Germany on June 11, 1938, to Maria and Joseph Domberger. His father passed away in WWII. Manfred, his mother and stepfather, Arnold Finks, came to the United States in 1951.

On March 29, 1958 in Stockton, IL, he married the love of his life Donna Nowak, in which they were married for 62 years. Manfred worked at Newell Window Furnishings as a Tool & Die Maker for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Kent Fire Dept. for 24 years, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kent, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, his daughter Vicki (Roger) Kloepping, son Manfred, Jr. (Earlene) Domberger, grandchildren: Amy (Jeremy) Roling, Katie (Doug Hastings) Stager, and Jennifer Duarte; great-grandchildren: Justin, Jaydon, Brianna, Danica, Lukas; brother Sigurd (Tracy) Finks, niece Kelsey (Brandon) Stenglein, nephew Brian Finks, cousins Anton & Resi Hintermeier and Guenther & Rita Hintermeier of Germany, and special dog Amber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step father (Arnold), brother (Arnie), and infant son.

Arrangements have been made with Offenheiser Swartz funeral home with the funeral service being held on Saturday February 6, 2021 at 12 noon, visitation preceded the service at 10 AM, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kent, IL. Pastor Scott Wilson officiated. Burial will be in Loran.

A memorial has been established in his name. The family would like to give a big thank you to daughter Vicki, Dave Abel, Tri-State Home, and Hospice for all their care and support.
