The Eastland Cougars had competed in local Cross Country meets in recent years, but they always had to do so as individual runners because they simply did not have enough to comprise a team.

In Cross Country, the fastest five place finishers for each school are added together to come up with a team score. But if you don't have five runners ... then there was no way to get a team score.

But the 2019 Cougars have a full team this season, and in their first race last week in Winnebago, those five runners were able to combine for an overall second place finish.
