Alayne Joy Hammer, 67

Alayne Joy Hammer, age 67, Of Warren, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on December 3, 2021, at SSM Health Monroe Hospital.

She was born on April 29, 1954, in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Ralph and Barbara Beyer. Alayne married Charles Hammer on January 25, 1978, and together, they raised six children. She was an avid reader who enjoyed caring for her dogs, studying genealogy, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

Alayne is survived by her husband, Charles, of Warren, Illinois; her six children - Amy (Bob) Bell, of East Dubuque, Illinois, Dana (Mike) Dunivan of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, Mica (Amber) Hammer, of Winter Garden, Florida, Chaz (Melody) Hammer, of Stockton, Illinois, Carrie (James) Smith, of Rockford, Illinois, Scott (Kaylie) Hammer, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers Hans (Lillian) Beyer and John (Sharon) Beyer, and sister Chris (Don) Long, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Butch Beyer, and sister, Barbara Bender.

Cremation rights to be accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established in her name and they may be mailed to 2162 Illinois Route 78 North Stockton, IL 61085.

Chad Charnas, 48

Chad Charnas, 48, passed away Wednesday morning, December 1, 2021 in Austin, Texas.

Chad Christopher Charnas was born March 27, 1973 in Chicago Ill. to Carol (Wozniak) and George Charnas. He married Melanie McGivney of Stockton, Ill. on May 4, 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie, of 25 years, his son Jalen and daughter Aly of Austin Texas, his mother Carol Charnas, of Dubuque Iowa, his father George Charnas of Benton Wis., and his sister Kathy (Jimmy) Armbrecht of Dubuque Iowa.

Chad is preceded in death by his grandparents and his sister Dena Charnas.

A 1991 graduate of Scales Mound High School, Chad lived much of his life in the Scales Mound and Rock Falls, Ill. area while he owned and operated five Culver’s restaurants in Northern Illinois and Iowa. In recent years he was involved in managing various projects around Austin, volunteering at the food pantry, and spending time with his family, including supporting his son, a junior at Texas A&M University and watching his daughter perform on her dance team as a senior at Vista Ridge High School.

Chad was known for his sense of humor, as well as his warm heart and giving nature. He enjoyed watching sports, writing and filmmaking, traveling and deep-sea fishing. He will always be cherished for bringing joy and laughter to those he loved and inspiring those he met. Most might remember Chad as a quick-witted gentle soul. He will always be in our hearts.

Visitation was held on Monday December 13th from 4-7pm with funeral services on Tuesday December 14th at 11am. All services were held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Stockton Ill. Condolences may be shared at http://www.hermannfuneralhome.com.
