Dakota finally got past Pearl City in their conference home opener.

Twice already the Pearl City Wolves had taken on the Dakota Indians at a local tournament and beaten them to advance on to the "medal" round. But Monday night in Dakota, the Indians got a small ounce of revenge by taking the conference victory by a slim 28-26, 25-22 margin.

"I don't know what it is," said Pearl City head coach Jane West. "Maybe we only know how to play well in tournaments. I guess I should get them tired before the match."

Pearl City and Dakota are almost mirror images of each other – with a dominant outside hitter, and supporting cast that typically decides the outcome...
