A total of 18 runners competed at the Eastland Invite, but Stockton edged Du/Pec for the crown.
The Eastland Cougars have, arguably, the most brutal cross country course in the region. Sprawling among the ski hills at Lake Carroll, the three mile course is nothing less than brutal.
"I got tired walking the course just to paint the lines," said Eastland Athletic Director Scott Hartman. "I can't even imagine how hard it is to run it."
But run it teams did, and in the opening Girl's race, the Stockton Lady Blackhawks took top team honors over Du/Pec by a 24-31 score. (Eastland competed, but you must have five runners finish in order to get a team score and the Cougars only had four.)...
