Lois Marie Bailey, 77

Lois Marie Bailey, age 77, of Warren, IL passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at home.

She was born August 18, 1943 in Bates, AR to the late Euen and Iven (Kiro) Hudspeth. Lois married Charles Bailey on September 5, 1959 in Aurora, IL. Charles passed away January 20, 2020.

Lois had worked as a Lab Tech for Faskure Co. and had owned and operated Lily Lake Tap with her husband Charles. She loved art, dancing, dance competitions, bowling, camping and going to the drag strip.

Lois is survived by her children, Peggy Sue (Rick) Raper, Joyce Ann (Dean) Weber, Charles Raymond Bailey III, and Lisa Lynette McNett; her grandchildren, Stacy Ann Weber, Crystal Lynn Lemon, Ann Marie Heath, Nikolai McGee, Robert Charles Landreth, Christopher Todd Landreth, Jessica Amber Newingham, Jerod David McNett, Charles Raymond Bailey IV; her great grandchildren, Katrina Marie Weber, Mario Ruiz II, Shawn Bailey Heath, Rylan Christopher Heath, Hailey Grace Landreth, Layla Dean Selzer and Rowan McGee; her siblings, Lorene Piatz, Floyd Hudspeth and Debbie Cline.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her siblings, John (JB) Hudspeth, Jessie Hudspeth, Ruby May Jones, Andy Hudspeth, Marie Bridget, Charlie Hudspeth, Janeen Smith, Anna May McGraw, Gerald Hudspeth, Betty Jo Kuter, and Jerry Hudspeth; her son-in-law, Jerry McNett.

Judith Lorraine Moss, 74

Judith Lorraine Moss, 74 of Freeport passed away Saturday, August 14th at FHN.

Judie was born June 23, 1947 in Wilmington, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth John Kane Sr. and Lorriane Kane.

Judie was preceded by her parents Kenneth John Kane Sr. Lorraine Swanson and Neil Swanson, Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Moss of Freeport; her children Michelle Lindo-Murphy of Wilmington, Delaware and Heather Lindo-Fagan (Justin Mathews) of Shannon, Illinois and DeWayne Moss of South Wayne, Wisconsin; her grandsons Patrick Murphy of New Castle, Delaware, Jameson Fagan of Polo, Illinois and Gunnar Moss of South Wayne, Wisconsin. Her Mother-In-Law Barbara Moss Bazala. Her siblings Sharman (late Dave) Strode, Neil (Rita) Swanson, Kenneth John (Liz) Kane Jr., Miriam Kane, and Diane Miller all residing in the Joliet and Shorewood Illinois area, Ronda (Bill) Kliman of Rockford, Illinois and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Judie’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at FHN Third Floor, East Wing for their care of her during the last few days of her life and all they have done for her over the last few months.

Brenda Mitchell, 81

Brenda Mitchell, age 81, of Freeport passed away peacefully Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Manor Court of Freeport. Brenda had a conscientious and ambitious spirit. She always planned ahead, but would set-off on a trip with a friend, in a moment’s notice! Here we say, “Goodbye for now Brenda, we will see you again.”

Brenda was born during a snowy day, February 13, 1940 in Elizabeth, Illinois, the daughter of LeVerne and Martha (Winter) Mitchell. She grew up on the family farm on Scout Camp Road, attending a country school. As a young girl, Brenda dealt with bouts of epilepsy until the age of 17 when she seemed to grow out of it. She is a graduate of the Stockton High School with the Class of 1958.

Brenda chose the single life. Always dependable and hard-working, she worked many years at Vitner’s Potato Chips on the line, and nightly maintenance at US Bank downtown Freeport. She enjoyed walking, even to the grocery store and work. Brenda valued her friends and depended on them for relationship and moral support. She often enjoyed listening to local musicians with friends. She lived a simple, but rich life.

Brenda will be dearly missed by several nieces and nephews, and her friends, including her close friend, Judith Cary. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Crescence Knapp, and her brother, Kirk Mitchell.

A funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Law Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. Visitation was held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will take place in Woodbine Cemetery.
