Pamela B. Cole, 70

Pamela B. Cole, age 70, of Stockton, IL passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at home.

She was born May 4, 1950 in Elgin, IL to the late Jack and Grace (Helfvogt) Ladd. Pam married Bob Cole on August 16, 1997 in Stockton.

She had worked at the Arlington International Racetrack, as a pet groomer, and as a manager for the Red Knight Pub. Pam had a love for animals, especially horses. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Pam is survived by her husband, Bob Cole of Stockton; her daughters, Mindy Burke of Chicago and Gabbi Cole of Stockton; her grandchildren, Tyler Burke, Sydney Burke and Lyanna Siergiej; her brother, Michael Ladd of CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Freeport

Kenneth D. Kuhlmeyer, 79

Kenneth D. Kuhlemeyer, 79, formerly of Ridott, died on January 1, 2021 at OSF HealthCare in Rockford.

He was born on October 3, 1941 in Ridott to the late Louis and Lucille (Tamling) Kuhlemeyer. He graduated from Dakota High School in 1959. He married Rae Kuhlmeier on August, 31 1963.

Ken loved to play baseball in high school and later played slow pitch softball and Euchre. He inherited his love of woodworking from his Dad and remodeled many homes. Ken dearly loved his family and enjoyed having all the little ones come to visit. He was very proud of all of them.

He is survived by his wife, Rae and his sons; Gregory (Leann) Kuhlemeyer of Delavan, WI; Brent (Molly) Kuhlemeyer of McHenry, IL; Scott (Christine) Kuhlemeyer of Maryville, MO and daughter, Michelle (Jason) Baldowsky of McHenry, IL. He leaves behind his brother, Harold Kuhlemeyer of Streator, IL and his sister, Arlene Kryder of Lena, IL; brother-in-law, Kenneth Buss of Louisville, KY; Sister-in-law, Elaine Kuhlemeyer of Canada.

His legacy in grandchildren include, Nathan Kuhlemeyer, Alyssa Patterson, Virginia Gluchman, Matthew Kuhlemeyer, Alexandria Harnish, Michael Harnish, Tyler Linder, Wilson Kuhlemeyer, and August Kuhlemeyer. His great grandchildren include Illiana Fischer, Nash Harnish, Harleigh Gluchman and Jace Gluchman.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his son, Michael Kenneth Kuhlemeyer; his sister, Rosalee Buss; his brother, Roger Kuhlemeyer; his brother-in-law, Nevin Kryder and three great grandchldren – twins Colton Conrad and Jace Gabriel Harnish and great-grandson, Azazel Fischer.

Mari Lynn White, 76

Mari Lynn White, age 76 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL.

She was born July 31, 1944 in Beaver Dam, WI; the daughter of Ellsworth “Ike” and Margaret (Buske) Haight. She was a 1962 graduate of Stockton High School.

Mari Lynn worked for Structo for 23 years. She also worked at the Stephenson Nursing Center, Burgess Battery and MicroSwitch. She enjoyed shopping, going to craft shows and collecting knick-knacks. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Troy White and Jamie (Cyndie) White both of Freeport; grandchildren, Jesica, Katie, Alicia, Alex, Jacob and Kelsey; great grandchildren, Faith, Camden, Landon, Savannah, Carter, Riley, Rylynn, Kash and Addison; brother, Robert (Rhodora) Haight of FL; and sister, Pat Werkheiser of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Trent; sister, Carole Suess; and brother-in-law, Dean Werkheiser.

Delores Kuhlemeier, 86

Delores J. Kuhlemeier, 86, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Pearl Pavilion.

She was born in Freeport on October 6, 1934, the daughter of Irvin and Irma (Koester) Kuhlemeier. Her favorite activity was painting/coloring. She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, and family gatherings.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Johnson of Stockton, and her brother, Roger Kuhlemeier of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Lena

George W. Matz, 100

George W. Matz, 100 years young, of Lena, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2021. George was born in Madison, South Dakota, to Gotthart and Augusta Matz on September 30, 1920.

He grew up in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, graduating in 1940. He enlisted in the Army in 1941, serving as a medic in World War II in both Africa and Italy until 1944. He married Edna Johnson on September 6, 1947, in Jackson, Michigan. She preceded him in death in 2018. After returning from World War II, he attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1948 and began his teaching career. He later went on to earn his Master of Science from Bemidji State College in 1960. He taught in multiple states including North and South Dakota, Minnesota, and finished his teaching career at Freeport Junior High School as the head of the Science Department.

After leaving teaching, he spent the rest of his professional career working at the State Bank in Freeport. After retirement, George and Edna moved to Height-of-Land Lake, Minnesota, and later Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. In 2007, they returned to Illinois and relocated to Lena, Illinois. George was a lifetime member of the Freeport Masons. He was also a member of the Minnesota Legion and Harmony United Methodist Church in Freeport, Illinois. George enjoyed gardening, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school events, and spending time with his family.

George is survived by his four children; James (Addie Dog) Matz of Culpepper, VA, Judy (late Chuck) Webster of Lena, IL, Don (Carolyn) Matz of Warren, MN, and Jeff (Sue) Matz of Freeport, IL, grandchildren; Jeremy (Stephanie) Matz, of McConnell, IL, Melissa (Shayne) Campbell of Lena, IL, Josh (Nikki) Matz of Freeport, IL, Katye (Jacob Phelps) of Granbury, TX, Marcus (Kelsie) Matz of Maple Grove, MN, Scott (Jill) Webster of Freeport, IL, Aaron (Kris Dehaven) Webster of Freeport IL; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren;’ numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edna, son-in-law Chuck Webster, parents Gotthart and Augusta Matz, and 7 siblings; William, Leo, Art, Freida, Leona, Arnie, and Donnie.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Harmony United Methodist Church in Freeport, Illinois. A visitation was from 9:00 AM until time of services on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the church. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, Illinois. Pastor Eddie Eddy officiated the services.

Pearl City

Iola E. Voss, 94

Iola E. Voss, age 94 of Pearl City, IL passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Liberty Village in Freeport.

She was born September 6, 1926 in Rock Grove, IL to the late Harrison and Mary (Clarno) Lausch. Iola married Kenneth Voss on March 9, 1952 in Orangeville, IL. Kenneth passed away on December 7, 1996.

Iola was a 1945 graduate of Orangeville High School. She was a member of Pearl City United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had farmed alongside her husband until they retired in 1980 and moved to Pearl City, she then worked for Liebenstein’s Market in Pearl City for 15 years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Iola enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, canning, baking, cooking, and raising chickens for eggs and meat. She also loved to play Bingo and watch her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by her sons, Melvin (Jan) Voss of Pearl City and their children, Kimberly (Jayson) Williams, Brianne (Jay) Freedlund and Blake (DeAnne) Voss, and Merlyn (Sheri) Voss of Kent; her daughters, Linda (Larry) Johnson of Pearl City and their children, Shane (Amy) Johnson and Darci (Justin) Keeling; Connie (Ralph) Drane of Pearl City and their children, Becky (Aaron) Mueller, Kelly (Wes) Coker, Andrea (Brian) Peight and Stacy (Corey) McKee; Karen (Rick) Aurand of Pearl City and their children, Chris (Rob) Knoup, Tim (Colleen) Aurand and Tammy (Joe) Stephan; Michele (Scott) Sturtevant of Hudson, WI and their children, Heather (Marco) Graff and Justin (Carissa) Sturtevant; her 36 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her two granddaughers, Kristin Sturtevant and Ashley Johnson; her two brothers and three sisters; and her special nephew, John French.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Liberty Village, especially Garden Court, for their love and care and to FHN Hospice for their wonderful, gentle care.
