Robert “Bob” Herman, 78

Robert “Bob” Herman age 78 of Lena, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 9,2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 25, 1942 in Freeport, IL, the son of Allen and Esther (Wingert) Herman. Bob married Tana Raders on October 20, 1963 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lena. He worked for 19 years at the Ralston Purina Company before retiring for health reasons. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Bob also served his community for many years as a member of the Lena Fire Department. He was an avid fan of the Bears, Cubs and Rockford Icehogs. Bob and his family spent over 40 years fishing up at Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin.

Bob is survived by Tana his wife of 57 years; three daughters- Dawn (Curt Garrison) Hastings of New Lisbon, WI, Deanna (Rich) Drye of Lena, IL, Stacy (Dan) Knoup of Urbandale, IA; a son Lane (Sonia) Herman of Dodgeville, WI; eight grandchildren- Brandon and Ryan Hastings, Dustin and Andrew Drye, Morgan and Mackenzie Knoup, and Ean Herman, and Beranna Busker; four great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Betty Raders of Lena; sisters-in-law- Evelyn Herman of Lena, Sharon (Bob) Schlachter of Lena, Jill Lance of Anaheim, CA, Jeannine Raders of Lena; brother-in-law Mark (Lora) Raders of Belleville, WI; several nieces and nephews and his constant companion for the last seven years his dog, Abbey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Colton Drye, sisters, Alberta (Charles) Spittler, Betty (Gerald) Dole, and Leah (George) Erner, brother Bill Herman, brothers-in-law- Terry Raders and Tom Lance, and father-in-law Francis Raders.

Per Bob’s request, cremation rites will be accorded.

A private family service will be held at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to FHN Hospice for the excellent care they gave Bob, and to Duane and Sharyn Babcock, Denny Luke, and Denny Nolan for all the help they have given the past years.

David N. Chambers, 78

David N. Chambers, 78, of Lena, Illinois passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, Wisconsin.

David was born on March 16, 1942 to Don and Doris (Strohacker) Chambers in Freeport, Illinois. He attended Pearl City High School, graduating in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret “Margie” Katzenberger on May 24, 1961. They were blessed with five children, Peg, Greg (Kim), Regan, Karmen, and Mark (deceased).

Dave worked for Civil Constructors for 47 years, enjoyed restoring and riding Allis Chalmers tractors. He loved his little farm and helping others. Dave loved his grandchildren so much, Papa never missed their sports or their life’s adventures.

He is survived by his wife, and best friend for 60 years; Margaret, his children, 11 grandchildren- three of whom he was like a Daddy to Chantel Sellers, Tevin (Kayla) Sellers, and Isaiah Bruce, several great-grandchildren, with one to be born in March, and many wonderful friends.

Dave loved the Lord, and was a member of Park Hill Evangelical Free Church in Freeport. His Park Hills family was so important to him.

Per David’s request, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Savanna

Nancy Ann Emery, 72

Nancy Ann Emery, age 72, of Savanna, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 due to COVID related complications, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. A private family memorial service be held with burial in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Condolences and memories may also be shared on lawjonesfuneralhome.com.

Nancy was born April 20, 1948 in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, the daughter of Burnell Donald and Willa Emogene (Duff) Stagman. She is a 1967 graduate of the Hanover High School. On August 9, 1968, Nancy married Floyd A. Emery at the First Lutheran Church in Chadwick. They raised two children, Eric and Carrie, along with celebrating 52 years of marriage.

Nancy enjoyed supporting her family and helping others. She adored her grandchildren and loved the time they spent together. Because of her love of community and her Church, Nancy enjoyed doing small acts of kindness, such as baking or sewing, for family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Her quilting was donated to churches, chemo-caps donated to hospitals, and her lap-quilts donated to nursing homes. In the last year, she has made many COVID masks to give to family and friends. It was her goal to bring hope and peace to others, making the world a better place. She is a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Savanna.

Nancy will be dearly missed by her husband, Floyd Emery of Savanna; her son, Eric (Graziella) Emery of Barrington, Illinois and Carrie (Chris) Prowant of Lanark, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jason, Elio and Alessia; four brothers, Kenneth Stagman of Hampton, Illinois, Gary (Nicki) Stagman of Granite City, Illinois, Rodney Kruempel of Marianna, Arkansas and Todd Kruempel of Rogers, Arkansas; and a sister, Kathy (David) Buckley of Maynard, Arkansas. Nancy is preceded in death by both parents (her father Burnell passing when Nancy was just an infant); a still-born grandchild; a sister, Denise Kruempel; and Nancy’s step-father, Walter Kruempel.
