The evacuation out of Walnut Acres actually drew national attention, although it's anybody's guess as to why.
The original notice that went out from Stephenson County Administrator, Georgia D. Newcomer, was met with a bit of alarm.
"This is to notify you of the emergency situation that is taking place at Walnut Acres. Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 among residents and now the staff, there will be a total of 51 residents needing to be relocated. Their families are being notified and will be given the option of either taking their family member home with them or they will be relocated.
