The Pandemic had placed everything on hold, and many people were actually trying to remember the last local high school sporting event they had seen. But last Wednesday night in Freeport, the blackout was lifted – for most – as several area teams gathered at Reed Park in Freeport to open up summer league softball play.

Of the teams initially expected to participate, Forreston – from what we were told – did not get permission from their school board, so the Orangeville JV Broncos filled that open slot. But exactly why Freeport was not participating was uncertain. Regardless of what...
