This spring, the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation (JDCF) announced the largest land purchase in its 27-year history, the Dick Dvorak Addition to Apple River Canyon.
The new addition preserves 1.2 miles of frontage on the Apple River and 333 acres of forests, cool season grassland, remnant prairie, and agri¬cultural land. It connects two existing units of Apple River Canyon State Park so it will broaden wildlife corridors while at the same time increasing outdoor recreational opportunities.
