Misplaced Anger ... For Now

When area restaurant owners opened up their mail recently, they were treated a to a whole new definition in “sticker shock”.

In a letter from Stephenson County Public Health Administrator, Craig Beintema, owners of area restaurants were suddenly told that the cost of their Stephenson County Food Service License was not just going up – but going up big!

“Our annual license was $125,” said Iron Horse owner Daryl Cannon. “I open up this letter and they tell me my fee is now $445, and I only have two weeks to pay it!”

More extreme increases were being found as others opened up...
