The Fate Of Freeport

Most people may not know about it, or realize the impact, but the clock is ticking regarding the future of the City of Freeport.

You see, currently Freeport enjoys the benefits of Home Rule. They can set their own Food & Beverage Tax, their own Motor Fuel tax, real estate property transport fees, and also have some legislative advantages such as adopting their own nuisance code, building codes, the enforcement of those codes and rental registration.

All of those benefits are due to being under Home Rule. But here's the problem, the population of a community must be in excess of 25,000...
