    Dan Stevens|Aug 14, 2019

With the beginning of a new school year close on the horizon, it is understandable for teachers and students alike to be holding on to their final days of summer with gusto, while dreading the opening of classes, tests and homework. Alex Kashner is the new man in Lanark, and has already relocated h...

  • Point To Ponder

    Dan Stevens|Aug 14, 2019

Suffering a loss is never easy, and our region got a double whammy recently. Both Colton Drye and Edwin Curry were taken from us far too soon. Now, before you get the wrong idea, I am not going to wax on about how special each man was to me because … that would be hypocritical. I didn’t really know either one. Sure, I knew who they were, but the relationship I shared with each of them was relegated to a smile and head nod, or casual, “hello”. So it would be hypocritical of me to talk about h...

This event included a legislative update about what really happened in Springfield during the Spring Session as well as an extended question & answer session. I strive for these events to address the state issues that citizens want to talk about and bring forward. As alway...

  • Bigger Proved To Be Better

    Dan Stevens|Aug 14, 2019

Back in 2006, Mithc Kappes and Jim Nadig bought the Stockton True Value Hardware Store, and over the course of a few years they began to see where if they really wanted the store to grow into their vision – a major upgrade was going to be needed. The switch was made to go from True Value to Ace, but that designation paled in comparison to what the two cooked up for the store that only had four employees at the time – the two owners, along with Jean Hill and Rosemary Basten. Beginning in 201...
