On Saturday March 26th Lena-Winslow FFA had two students that had the prestigious opportunity to compete for a State Title in two different Proficiency Areas. Connor DeZell in Goat Production Entrepreneurship and Ross Stabenow in Beef Production Entrepreneurship. Connor was a state finalist in his area and Ross won his area making him a State Champion. Pearl City Scott W, Lartz, 59 Scott W. Lartz, age 59, of Pearl City, IL passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at his home. He was born on October 30, 1962 in Freeport, IL to the late Austin and Betty (Imel) Lartz. Scott married Jeanne Hershey in 1982. Scott married Lisa Brady in 1986 and together they had a son, Ethan. Espenscheid Forest Preserve in Stephenson County is now home to an oak tree savanna thanks to local youth and community members. The group of 25 oak trees, called a savanna, will bring new life to oak-hickory forests currently under threat in Illinois. Concerns seem to be misplaced regarding recent actions voted upon by the Freeport Park District. Specifically, at their April 5 meeting, the Park Board voted to declare the two homes owned by the Park District – one at the entrance to Krape Park, and the other on the Park Hills Golf Course – to be declared, "Surplus Property."
